Establishing
or enhancing a home dialysis program: the business perspective
Home is an effective way to expand the capacity of
your dialysis facility or nephrology practice to embrace the growing incidence
rates of people with Chronic Kidney Disease and End-Stage Renal Disease. Learn more.
What
home therapies offer nephrology practices
Because a Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) patient
typically has just one physician visit a month, a home program allows
nephrologists to see more patients in less time, with comparable Monthly Capitation Payment considering the value of your time. Offering patients a choice of
therapies has become more viable because Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) now reimburse physicians for
patient education and training.
What
home therapies offer dialysis facilities
A home program allows facilities to overcome
capacity limits and extend staff resources to address increasing patient
incidence rates. The final CMS reimbursement bundle encourages the use of PD. In addition, the reimbursement rate for training
has increased for clinics adopting the full bundle on January 1, 2011.
